Eerie Ln Interview : With Boo Gruesome!

Who are the monsters behind this band?

I'm on lead vocals, my brother HellHound is on drums, Von Creepy is on guitar, Kayden Grimnir on bass, and EvilLind on sample duties.

So, I got Voodoo Music Box in the mail the other day and put it in and it’s a lot heavier than the older Eerie Ln stuff, (Not saying that’s a bad thing!) Is this a transition that you would like to stick to in the future with upcoming releases?

Well, HellHound has always essentially been a heavy drummer! Lots of double bass and such. And my vocals have always been a bit more metal then punk. We both grew up on heavy stuff. From old Sepultura and even older Black Sabbath to Danzig. We've always liked heavy music. Now with the addition of our new bassist Kayden, it's all fallen into place. He's way into different black metal bands and more extreme music. We never try to mold the music any certain way. We like to let it all come out of us naturally and yes I do think things will get heavier in the future, but not so heavy people won't recognize it's us! The horror and fun factor will always be a staple of the EERiE Ln. sound!

I also noticed with all the other goodies I got in the mail, the flyers, you pretty much do all the artwork yourself, do you take care of most the bands relations, like your fan club for instance? If so, does it get to be a bit overwhelming at times?

I am essentially the backbone of the band's public relations. I do most of the interviews, I book the shows, and I do the majority of the artwork that needs done but Von Creepy contributes alot too as far as artwork goes. He's a great artist. Kayden helps out alot with internet promotions. He's a computer guy. I do run the Fang Club personally and yes at times it is overwhelming, but I love it and I get the most satisfaction from knowing the fans who write on a personal basis. It makes all the bull shit worth while.

Apparently the bands name is taken from Eerie Von, why did you guys name the band after him? Does he know about you guys?

Yeah Eerie knows about us. HellHound and I met Eerie on the Danzig 4p tour a few times while in our old band, a Misfits, Samhain cover band, the Unholy. He was truly cool to us and remembered us every time we saw him again. I became pen pals with him and we remain in contact to this day, nearly 6 years later. He's a great guy and there would be no EERiE Ln. without Eerie Von.

Influence wise you guys name Samhain, The Misfits, Eerie Von, White Zombie and the such as influences, what first exposed you to these bands, and what did you think of them at first?

This is gonna sound like bullshit, but we found about all those amazing bands from a girl HellHound and I met when we had to take a 12 step program to become normal citizens when we were very young. Her name was Courtney and she had alot of really fucked problems and her home life sucked. She was really cool to us and we liked her alot. She ended up in prison for killing the grand mother she lived with. She shot her in the head. She was into all those bands when we were still into old thrash stuff but she left a major impact on us and we will never forget her or the music she brought to us. I'm not condoning murder, but sometimes someone comes into your life that transcends the whole black and white, good and bad concepts and is just a cool person. It sucks that she felt that was her last resort.

So what’s the future for Eerie Ln, are you guys ever going to get the hell outta Texas and come see all us people up here!?

We plan on it. But being a do it your self-band makes money a tight situation. Plus we all have families ,more or less, and rent and bills to keep up with. So we do what we can on our meager budget. But we have done 7 out of town shows in the last 7 months. We went to San Antonio, New Orleans, Lawton Oklahoma, and we head back to San Antonio on the 20th of October. We hope to get a recording contract at some point. I've been in touch with several labels. If we can get signed we can get some tour support. Until then everyone will have to just hang on. We will make it around, it just might be a while!

What is the scene like there? Where do you guys fit in musically there?

We don't fit in here. Never have and probably never will. You have to take into consideration Pantera is from here, so most of the bands we've played with here are third rate Pantera posers! It sucks! That and run of the mill cookie cutter death metal acts. I think we'd do better up north. We have great shows everytime we're not at home! Oh well!

Any last comments? Tips on covering up the crime?

We have an online Fang Club. It's a Yahoo Club and can be found under eerie ln. or the Skull O' Maniacs. Thanx alot for your support. Happy Hauntings everyone! Take SCARE!
