Eerie Ln Interview: With Boo Gruesome
What's keeping the band busy lately?
As we speak it's the Halloween season which is always
a busy time for
us. We played a Halloween gig in San Antonio Saturday
October 20th and
we headlined a great Halloween show in Lawton Oklahoma
Friday October
26th with Wyrmwood, an excellent goth band from San
Antonio and Insult
to Injury, an intense punk band from Lawton. We are
opening for Graves
on November 15th in Dallas Texas. If you don't know
who they are, It's
Michale Graves' and Dr. CHUD's, of Misfits fame new
band. That will be
very cool and a big break for us in Dallas.
How has horror contributed to the bands creativity?
We are all horror fans. It just comes naturally to add
it into our
music. It's not really a contrived thing so I don't
really know how it
contributes to our creativity cause it's always been
there.
Being a fan of horror flicks, which one do you
think scared the shit out of you?
Nothing lately! Being a true horror fan it's pretty
hard to scare me
with a movie anymore. But when I was really young the
Creature from the
Black Lagoon was pretty scary stuff. Seeing how old
that movie was the
Creature costume was intense for that time period.
Very realistic. I
love that movie to this day and consider it to be one
of the better
horror flicks.
How many films do you have in your collection?
Last time I counted me and my woman Scara have close
to 500 movies with
a little over 300 being horror films.
Do you ever plan of directing your own flick?
I really want to do a horror comic book with our
guitarist Von Creepy.
Or I would dig getting some horror fiction published
but I've never
thought about doing a film. Von Creepy has! He has a
script written up
and everything!
Musically which band influenced EERIE LN.?
A few bands are big influences on us. The Misfits,
Samhain, and Danzig
of course. White Zombie and Black Sabbath are common
favorites amongst
us. From the black metal scene, Dimmu Borgir and Old
Man's Child.
The World Trade Center attacks to me is real
horror. What do
you think about this monstrosity?
I think what happened is a tragedy of unimaginable
proportions and the
effects of it will be felt for a long time to come. My
sympathies go
out to all the innocent families victimized by this
unwarranted act of
terrorism.
What makes EERIE LN. different amongst bands of the
genre you are in?
Well I honestly don't think we really fit into any one
single genre. I
think we play metal with a punk agression.Even our
image could fall
into several different genres seeing how Cradle of
Filth isn't doing
anything much different visually then the Misfits or
Samhain. I mean,
because we have so many varied influences, you can
hear alot of
different sounds in our music. I think we're a hybrid
of dark music.
About the bands Fang Club I see you really care
about your fans
even financing stuff out of your own pockets...What is
it with EERIE LN. fans?
They're very dedicated and die hard because they know
we care about
what we're doing extremely. We're giving them
something most bands
aren't these days, something real, something to
believe in. I truly
appreciate our fans. They make this all worthwhile.
Are you working on new stuff right now? Will it
follow the traditional
EERIE LN. song writing process or will it be a little
experimental this time?
We have close to 13 new songs written and we will
start to record them
in the studio the first week of December. Like always
we write what we
want to write when we want to write it, so it's
another grab bag of
different sounds all maintaining our creepy sense of
fun and horror.
How is the scene there?
The scene here sucks! There really isn't a scene were
we live. We've
been concentrating most of our gigs out of town.
Which would you choose being caught jerking off or
doing drugs?
Probably jerking off over the mangled corpse of my
most recent victim.
Horn's up! (anything you'd like to add...)
Thanks alot for this oppertunity. And thank you to all
of our dedicated
supporters the world over, from Transylvania to
Raccoon City USA! Have
a great Halloween! Take scare!
