First Paranormal Review Pre-final mixing by Skinwalker

Yesterday I received one of the 1st raw mixes of EERiE Ln.'s newest creation. I've been acquainted with Gruesome for a year and a half now, and he's never failed to impress me with his musical endeavors!! First and foremost, EERiE Ln. not being signed to a major label is a blasphemous statement within itself. And that's so very much true with this new CD. I don't see how much more these devils can be denied, so when the new CD is finally released - fellow Skulls, lets all go shove this new one down everyone's throat we find!!

EERiE Ln. is definitely taking an American black metal direction with some of the new songs. Gruesome & Kadyen have successfully incorporated their black metal influences along with Hellhound & Von Creepy's metal & blues contributions. Now there was a lot of scrutiny amongst the fans of 1031 when Voodoo Music Box was released last year. There's a fine line between campy horror rock and Texas horror metal. I have a very broad range of musical appreciation, and this is what you need to have to understand EERiE Ln.'s transformation from album to album. In all honesty, I don't think the fans of 1031 will like the new cd. It's alot heavier and alot more darker than Voodoo Music Box. Spiritual and physical transformation is an on going theme with Gruesome, and he's never so captured a realistic essence until this new album. Anyone can claim they're a werewolf or have werewolf-like tendencies, but no one can sit down and dissect the sacred properties of shape shifting like Gruesome. That's why the lyrics to the newer songs are so powerful.

I have to send out a big congratualtions to Von Creepy!! I've heard he's busted his ass putting all his creative efforts into this new album, and it has never been so predominant!! Hellhound and Kayden need no praise, because they know they are just that good! Gruesome wants to bring in some vocal effects on a few songs which will put his voice style over the top. Now Melinda has yet to put her samples into the CD I heard, but EERiE Ln. wouldn't be the same sadistafucks without her!! When the final mixing is finished with the new creation of EERiE Ln., it's gonna leave you feeling "cold, sodomized and tired" by the wolven pack of Ft. Worth, Texas...you have been warned!!

Sadistikly Yours,
Mistress Skinwalker666

EERIE LN. Voodoo Music Box 2000 Mutha

EERIE LN. play a mixture of punk and metal, dubbed horrorcore by the band. In the vein of SAMHAIN, THE MISFITS, and DANZIG, the band wears their influences proudly, flying the flag of the macabre for all to see. Song-wise, "We Glow" is the adrenalizer of the disc, a true fist-in-the-air tune that would be a real crowd-pleaser live. "Infinity's Kiss (The Ballad of Scara)" showcases the thrash and traditional metal roots the band also has. It's one of the best songs on the record. A huge chorus makes the ass-kicking "Fallen Forsaken" memorable, as well as a one-in-a-million melodic riff that really works in the context of the song. On the heavier side of things, "Pale and Cold" carries itself with a crushing rhythm and double-bass drumming to punctuate the guitars. Once again, the song turns out to be very well-written, with a hook-filled song structure, making this song a triumph. I guess what I'm getting at is that every song here is memorable and good in its own way. There are no throwaway filler tracks on this one. It's totally worth tracking down.

I am, and ever shall be, a fan of EERiE(frickin')Ln. I loved their
first release and reviewed it several issues back in Harder Beat.
Voodoo Music Box sees the ghouls of D/FW returning with a heavier and
more mature release. Here's the poop-EERiE Ln. is a talented band that
doesn't sound like every other damn band from here to eternity. If you
miss hearing this album, I pity you. I pity your family. I pity your
wretched unknowing soul. 'Nuff said.

EERiE Ln...Voodoo Music Box

EERiE Ln. is a band that will appeal to fans of such bands as the
Misfits and Samhain. Image is important to this Texas quintet, as they
portray their cartoon horror, but unlike many other bands of this
temperment, EERiE Ln.'s music is not bad at all. It is basically punk
metal that is played with much enthusiasm. The humor and the horror do
not affect EERiE Ln. musically. Voodoo Music Box is the follow up to
their debut Tenthirtyone. Like other bands of this genre, EERiE Ln.
benefits from their live performanceas visuals are very important,
however, those who take a chance on this disc will not be disappointed.
There is enough variety to break the monotony as some songs are almost
thrashy, some are punkish, and others just plain ROCK. They even cover
"Great Balls of Fire." This band is FUN.

EERIE LN : TENTHIRTYONE
This little piece of ghoulish punk, is the first CD from Eerie Ln. The title of course referring to everyone's favorite holiday, Halloween. This early CD has a more punkier sound than their latest CD, "Voodoo Music Box", where they incorporated some Pantera-isms into their music. On this first effort, there is more Misfits-worship than you can shake a shrunken skull at, but they just do it so fuckin' well! Now that the Misfits are currently down to just Jerry Only, and a bunch of fill-ins (Mike, Chud & Doyle are out of the band as I write this), it's time for a band like Eerie Ln. to step in, take their place. Rumor has it, that the print run on this disc was only 500 copies!!! I'm not sure if there has been, or ever will be, a reprinting, so go get it now! The title track, "Dead Kids In Black", on its own, is worth whatever it may cost you to get a hold of this disk.

EERIE LN : VOODOO MUSIC BOX
(DRINKING SONGS FOR THE DEARLY DEPARTED)
Surfing the rotting bowels of the Internet, I stumbled upon an evil entity know as Eerie Ln. Quite simply, these guys rock!! This CD is a crazy combination of; The Misfits, The Hookers, Nashville Pussy, The Mobile Mob Freakshow, and Pantera! No big budgets here, recorded with only 24 hours of studio time, the sound comes off as fresh, raw, and in your face… kind of like those early Misfits recordings. This disc packs lots of heavy bass lines, courtesy of Mr. Crypt Perish; powerful drumming with some cool double bass blasts, from Mr. Hell Hound; crunchy/dirty guitars, carved by Mr. Von Creepy; and those, oh-so catchy choruses, sung (howled) by Mr. Boo Gruesome. Clocking in at an enormous 36 minutes and 5 seconds, this is but a taste, and leaves you starring at the speakers wanting more. On top of the great tunes, you get the band's whole creepy image to immerse yourself in… skulls, bats, pumpkins, Halloween, Voodoo, and even chainsaw killers. There are a ton of bands out there u sing the Misfits/Halloween type imagery, but few do it as well, and have as much ghoulish fun with it as these guys. I was truly surprised by this disc, it just shows you what great stuff is out there for those of us that are real music fans, and don't just swallow what the big music labels try to shove down our throats. So if the "New-fits" make you yawn with boredom, and Pantera doesn't have enough hooks for ya, then this little morsel may be more to your liking. Eerie Ln. - Voodoo Music Box: Drinking Songs for the Dearly Departed Mutha Records
The dead have gotta drink too, right? Damn straight they do! Thankfully, Boo Gruesome, Kayden Grimnir, Evil Lind, Hellhound and Von Creepy have eleven new songs to hoist a brew to. Spawned in Ft. Worth, Texas, EERiE Ln. (pronounced Eerie Lane) make no bones about the obvious Misfits/Samhain/Danzig influence in sound, look, lyrics and attitude. Picture Glenn Danzig with throat cancer growling over harmonic breakdowns, Sabbath bass lines, buzz saw grind riffs and spooky samples for the true EERiE Ln. experience of all out horror-core monster metal. Not to mention Gruesome's personal artowork, which fits our beloved motif like a bloody glove on a severed hand. Sure, it's as derivative as horror punk gets, but that's the point. Voodoo Music Box praises tricking over treating in its all-out orange and black assault on metal mediocrity, including a killer hidden cover of Jerry Lee Lewis' Great Balls of Fire. The only real downside to Voodoo Music Box is the absence of the slightly more e melodic moments that marked their first album Tenthirtyone. With the emergence of bands like Ghoultown (RM#20) and now EERiE Ln., the idea of visiting the Lone Star State has gotten downright frightening.

Eerie Ln. - Voodoo Music Box
I've been a fan of these guys since I heard one of their earlier songs on a cassette bootleg some tape trader or another sent my way. Mr. Boo Gruesome and crew: Hell Hound on drums, VonCreepy on guitar, Crypt Perish on bass, and Boo on vocals, sent me a copy of their latest disc "Voodoo Music Box" subtitled "Drinking Songs For The Dearly Departed" a few weeks back and my slacking ass is just now getting around to reviewing it... Eerie Ln.'s homage to The Misfits seems to be their trademark, along with their worship of all things Halloween. After listening to hours upon hours of Death and Doom and Grind and Splatter-grind and Porno-grind and whatever else landed in my mailbox that day this was a huge damn breath of fresh air. You can tell these guys are, dare I say, having fun. From the obvious Misfits inspired tracks like "Raccoon City Rock" and "Mr. Phantasm" to the harder edged stuff like "Sadistafuck" and "Season of the Witch" to the funny as hell remake of Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" where the guys change up the lyrics a little... "I wanna love you like Danzig would"... this disc is just a helluva lot of fun to listen to. And to top it off these guys know how to play. This disc rock n rolls with the best of 'em, is a million times more punk than every Green Day and Blink 182 album combined, and gets heavy enough in places to send these spiky-haired mall-metal bands home crying to their moms... If you want a break from the same old shit check these guys out and everyday can be Halloween... like it says on the disc these guys are "putting the fun back in funerals"... Total Running Time: 36:05 Track List: 1) Raccoon City Rock, 2) We Glow, 3) Infinity's Kiss (The Ballad of Scara), 4) Fallen Forsaken, 5) Pale and Cold, 6) Season of the Witch, 7) The Hymn of Unlight, 8) Sadistafuck, 9) Needle and Thread, 10) It's Alive, 11) Mr. Phantasm, Hidden Track) Great Balls of Fire+1

Eerie Ln.- Voodoo Music Box
Eerie Ln. is easily one of the coolest bands around. They are hugely inspired by The Misfits, and they send fans out all sorts of cool shit, just like The Misfits do. I got a Phantom of the Opera Halloween card awhile ago. How very thoughtful, and the pic was that stamp that came out a few years back, so it's just a nifty card too. On to the music - it would seem that at my request, the vocals have been stepped up a notch in terms of extremity. It would seem that way, except the band didn't see my review of tenthirtyone til this follow up was already long out...guess I can't let my influence on them go to my head yet. Anyway, this CD has blended the influences a bit more than their previous effort, combining the short punch of Earth A.D. era Misfits with the guitar rock of White Zombie with vocals somewhat similar to Derrik Green of Sepultura. It's a pretty big sound, and this is probably gonna be the best horror rock album of the year, provided The Misfits don't shatter every barrier ever set forth in the genre. Tribute is paid to (naturally) The Misfits, Danzig's next band Samhain ("Infinity's Kiss" is presumably a reference to "Black Dream"), White Zombie (Cover looks a bit like La Sexorcisto) , and George Romero ("Season of the Witch," which kicks ass all over everything. My guess is they've never actually seen Season of the Witch, though, or they never woulda named a song after it. I mean, that movie REALLY sucks) . Ends with a killer cover of "Great Balls of Fire/Going to the Cemetary," where everyone seems to be having lots of fun during the recording. The guitarist has a cool Friday the 13th shirt...that movie sucks, too, but the shirt looks cool.

Eerie Ln.- Voodoo Music Box
In MY opinion, this is much better than the last release, "tenthirtyone". While it's still not the kind of music I would go out and buy, "Voodoo Music Box" is much more tolerable than most stuff you come across. Those into punk and hard core, this is the band for you. With a following rising faster than a virgin boys penis at the Playboy mansion, Eerie Ln. is definitely going to be a household name in the near future. Their musical talents have progressed quite a bit from that on "tenthirtyone". With this 11 track CD, there seems to be a variety of different music styles good to fit those who get bored easily. My favorite on this CD is "Season of the Witch". I like the music, the lyrics fit like a glove, the over all lyrical content of this CD is quite a substantial improvement from the last. Obviously, I did not like that last one at all. This one has more control, is a bit sharper and is picking up like wildfire. Can't judge it going by it being stuff I don't care for, that's not fair. But looking at it as straight up music; This band has grown and will no doubt continue to grow. Their sound is getting harder, it's more complete, there's an intensity to the woven mass of darkness and evil which is something I did not find in the last CD. I would never recommend that our readers go and buy some piece of shit CD just to help out the band...In this case, I say go get. Buy the bitches up. It's good listening. However, if you are taking some sort of anger management, maybe you should go and buy a Yani CD instead. This ones likely to corrupt you just a bit.

I'm not talking musically (though the 'fits influence is quite prevalent there as well), but in the "Send out EVERYTHING we got" attitude. Along with my CD I got: a letter, band photo, autographed pumpkin paper, a xeroxed article, 8 fliers for shows (featuring various members of the horror community as rendered by band members), and 3 Halloween related buttons!! Obviously big Misfits fans, having even hooked up with old Misfit photographer Eerie Von (oh, and he also played in Samhain and Danzig ...) and his very nice wife, Eerie Ln. deliver 15 quick, guitar driven, punkish songs. A bit like a cross between Earth A.D. era and Walk Among Us era Misfits , as the tracks are slower than those on Earth but don't contain the 50's type vocal stylings of Walk. Vocalist Boo Gruesome has a gruffer delivery than either Danzig or Graves, and has strong Hardcore/Thrash potential. I'd be interested in hearing a track or two at a faster, more aggressive pace to hear Boo give his throat a real workout. The bottom line with this CD is that if you like ANY Misfits incarnation, you will probably enjoy this. If you like the 'fits and don't have this, you just suck.

Howling from Ft.Worth, Texas, this six piece macabre crew give a respectable nod to their collective idol, Eerie Von, the bassist of Samhain and Danzig, by naming their gruesome horror punk venture after the legend. Vocalist Corey "Boo" Gruesome delivers a raunchy, howling sing-a-long sound to this 15 song epic release jam packed with jack-o-lantern ditties all reveling the spirit of that October 31st holiday. Tenthirtyone follows only a self produced demo "Ramma Lamma Kill Kill" and the 11 song cassette perfectly titled "Nice Planet...We'll Take It !" Formed by Gruesome and his brother Hell Hound (drums) in 1996, Eerie Ln. Successfully nails the grinding, buzzsaw effects of the classic punk guitar era. When the CD cums in your face with the anthem "Dead Kids In Black" right on track one, there's no turning back: you're headed down a 45 minute rampage of Oderus Urungus grumbling, Sabbath bass lines humming beneath the beat, build ups, break downs, and rhythmic explosions treking across Metallica styled guitar licks and Misfits influenced choruses. The folks who dwell at Ten Thirty One Eerie Ln. Are the perfect neighbors, if you happen to be Eddie Munster !

At least with a band like EERiE Ln., they not only wear their influences on their sleeves, they wear it head to toe and admit it with dogged pride. The band's music is fun horror rock in the jugular vein of Samhain/ Danzig/ Misfits as well as "anything and everything dark and creepy" as frontman Boo Gruesome explains. They've got the whole thing down pat, it seems: the image, the great cartoonish show flyers, the lyrics (the 15 song CD is titled "tenthirtyone"- otherwise known as Halloween- and song titles include "For You the Living". "Bolt-N-Neck" and "Monsterama A Go-Go".) They've even got the performances down pat, from the simple and driving songs, with their forceful vocals, to the sing along choruses and that pervading but all important sense of fun fully in tact. Unlike imitators, EERiE Ln. Don't think they're the next Samhain, they know they're just a bunch of guys having fun, paying homage to their idols and finding fans in the process. I can't say that I was ever a fan of the whole style, but I can appreciate it, and I definitely think this band would appeal to people who like the horror/ shock thing but would rather hear some decent originals than another sloppily played Misfits cover tune.

Eerie Ln., Nice Planet...We'll Take It! Independant release: With their black clothes, spooky stage names, and bad moon rising song titles (the Unnatural, Do You Remember Hate, Tomb of Blood), this Ft.Worth foursome may seem like a dead ringer- sorry-for Marilyn Manson. Theatrics aside though, Eerie Ln.'s a pretty promising outfit. On this 11 song cassette, great title by the way, the group fuses together bits of punk, gothic, industrial and straight forward rock, comming up with a savage brew that is as unique as it is passionate.

Hmmmm...Let's see heah-um...Ten-Thirty-One...That'd be Halloween...Open up the packet and we got band members with names like Goredog and Boo Gruesome. Dressed up like ghouls, too. Singing songs titled: "Skull-O-Mania, "Tomb of Blood", and "...OK, OK, we get it, these little monsters want to be the new Misfits ! But the band is from Texas?! And what do they know about the Misfits in Texas? Not that Goredog and Co. sound like their brethren from New Jersey. Hell no, they're way too heavy. Singer's hoarse shouting is closer to Lemmy (Killmeister from Motorhead) than Danzig's croon, too. Still, this rocks hard and it keeps it tongue firmly in cheek-'cept for "Godhand", a creepy ditty about the power and glory of shooting folks-and plays with devilish raucous abandon. "Raucous", that's Texan for "smokin'."

Eerie Ln.- Tenthirtyone
From Ft.Worth,Texas comes the punk horror creepiness of the band Eerie Ln. Named after and dedicated to Eerie Von Stelman, ex-bassist of Samhain and Danzig, this six-piece band are digging up their southern audience by storm. Devoting themselves to the macabre and all that is dark and creeps through the night, their latest 15 song release on We Glow In The Dark Records titled "tenthirtyone" is a Halloweenish one by far. This hideous bunch are truely following in the footsteps of their predecessors the Misfits and Samhain, along with other punk and old school hardcore influences. Two bones up for these dead guys !

Eerie Ln.- Tenthirtyone
With the re-emergence of the Misfits a few years ago and the dawning of Samhain T-shirts by Rob Zombie, there seems to be a new interest in the horror rock genere. And it's about time. One of the new kids on the block is Eerie Ln., who doesn't really sound like anyone else, which is cool as hell! It's good to see bands out there that can embrace a particular type of music and lifestyle without being a carbon copy. Eerie Ln. mixes it up with a peculiar hybrid of punk, metal, and even good, old fashioned rock-n-roll. "Creepy Crawl" and "The Bite" stand out, but the whole album is strong with no filler.
